The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati Research Park Foundation has signed three important Memorandums of Agreement (MoAs) to boost research in sustainable urbanization, healthcare innovation, and deep tech entrepreneurship. The agreements were signed by Prof. Devendra Jalihal, Director of IIT Guwahati, along with Maj. Gen (Retd.) L. Padmanabhan, CEO of CUBE, and other key figures.

Focus on Healthcare and Urbanization

Prof. Devendra Jalihal expressed excitement about transforming IIT Guwahati Research Park into an innovation hub for the Northeast. A major initiative is a partnership with the Assam Government to establish a super-specialty hospital and simulation lab, combining medical and engineering expertise to address healthcare challenges.

Maj. Gen (Retd.) L. Padmanabhan highlighted the collaboration with IIT Guwahati to tackle urban challenges in the Northeast. CUBE aims to provide solutions in sustainable infrastructure and smart cities, leveraging IIT Guwahati’s academic strengths.

Healthcare Innovation and Self-Reliance

Sajal Sen, COO of Assam Government – IITG Healthcare Foundation, emphasized the goal of reducing dependency on imported medical equipment by developing indigenous technology. The partnership will create a 400-bed super-specialty hospital and advanced programs in biotechnology and medical tech.

The Assam Advanced Healthcare Innovation Institute (AAHII) will be a “Make in India” center for medical technology, focusing on diagnostics and treatment innovations. This initiative aims to foster economic resilience and regional growth, positioning Northeast India as a leader in science and innovation.
