IGP V K Birdi Prepares for Safe Amarnath Yatra 2024 in Kashmir
Inspector General of Police Kashmir Zone, V K Birdi, held a meeting to review security arrangements for the Shri Amarnathji Yatra 2024. The meeting took place at the Conference Hall of Police Control Room Kashmir and was attended by senior police officials including DIGs and SSPs from various districts.
The officers presented their security plans through a Point Presentation (PPT), detailing the specific requirements and arrangements for their respective districts. V K Birdi emphasized the importance of safe and secure movement of pilgrims, vigilant patrolling, and robust night security. He reviewed the deployment and operational readiness of the Road Opening Parties and stressed the need for monitoring along highways.
Birdi also instructed the officers to conduct mock drills based on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to evaluate their effectiveness and identify areas for improvement. He directed DIGs to assess High-Density Counter Operation Plans to ensure comprehensive security coverage and timely response to potential threats.
The IGP urged all officers to remain vigilant and proactive, emphasizing coordination and timely response to any potential threats. He also directed the installation of CCTV cameras at all strategic locations in camping sites and ensured adequate manpower at each yatra camp.
The meeting concluded with V K Birdi expressing confidence in the police’s ability to provide a safe, smooth, and secure environment for the yatra, allowing pilgrims to undertake their spiritual journey with peace of mind.
