IDF Operations in Gaza: Possible Elimination of Hamas Chief Yahya Sinwar

On October 17, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced that three terrorists were eliminated during operations in Gaza. Among them might be Yahya Sinwar, a key Hamas leader involved in the October 7 attacks last year. The IDF and Israel Security Agency (ISA) are investigating, but the identities are not yet confirmed.

The IDF shared on social media that no hostages were found in the building where the terrorists were eliminated. This follows the recent elimination of other high-profile leaders, including Hezbollah’s Hassan Nasrallah in Lebanon and Hamas’ Ismail Haniyeh in Iran. Israel has not confirmed involvement in these attacks.

Recently, the IDF has targeted several Hamas officials, including Rawhi Mushtaha and Sameh al-Siraj. In Jabaliya, 20 Hamas operatives were killed, and a weapons depot was destroyed. The IDF continues to dismantle terror infrastructure in the area.

The IDF has urged Palestinians in northern Gaza to move to a humanitarian zone in the south, where aid and field hospitals are available. Two evacuation routes have been opened, but aid groups warn against repeated displacement of Palestinians.

In central Gaza, the 14th Reserve Armored Brigade is conducting raids, targeting Hamas infrastructure. In recent days, 70 Hamas sites have been struck by airstrikes.
