Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Hokato Hotozhe Sema on winning the bronze medal at the ongoing Paris Paralympics, calling it a ‘proud moment’ for the nation. Hokato secured the bronze in the men’s shot put F57 final with a personal best throw of 14.65 meters.

Iran’s Yashin Khosravi won the gold medal with a throw of 15.96 meters, while Brazil’s Thiago Paulino dos Santos took the silver with a throw of 15.06 meters.

PM Modi praised Hokato’s ‘incredible strength and determination’ on his official X handle, wishing him the best for future endeavors.

In other news, Indian para-athlete Bhavanaben Chaudhary finished fifth in the women’s F46 javelin throw final with a best throw of 39.70 meters.

India’s medal tally at the ongoing Paralympics has reached 27, including six gold medals, nine silver medals, and twelve bronze medals. This is the highest number of gold medals India has ever won at a Paralympics, surpassing the five golds won in Tokyo 2020.
