Hindustan Unilever Ltd, a major company in the fast-moving consumer goods sector, has sold its water purification brand ‘Pureit’ to the American company A. O. Smith Corporation. The sale includes all trademarks, copyrights, and other intellectual properties related to Pureit. This decision was approved by HUL’s Board on July 15.

About Pureit

Pureit, launched in 2004 in Chennai, offers a wide range of residential water purification solutions, mainly in India. It was created to provide safe drinking water to the growing populations in South Asia.

Kevin J. Wheeler, Chairman and CEO of A. O. Smith Corp, stated that Pureit complements their premium brands and will help expand their presence in e-commerce. He added that the acquisition aligns with their strategy to enhance their water treatment product portfolio and distribution.

Sreenivas Narayanan, General Manager of Pureit, expressed that the partnership with A. O. Smith will enable them to deliver more advanced and reliable water purification solutions in India.
