Himachal Pradesh Wins Top Award for Hydropower at Global Renewable Energy Expo
Himachal Pradesh has been honored as the ‘Highest Achiever State in Overall Hydropower Capacity’ at the Global Renewable Energy Investors Meet and Expo in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy, Pralhad Joshi, presented the award at the event held on Monday.
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu expressed pride in the achievement, stating, “This recognition validates our efforts to make Himachal Pradesh a ‘Green Energy State’ by 31st March, 2026.” Chief Parliamentary Secretary Sunder Singh Thakur and MLA Neeraj Nayyar received the award on behalf of the government.
CM Sukhu highlighted the state’s rapid strides towards becoming a ‘Green Energy State’ by 2026. He mentioned the operationalization of a 32 MW Pekhubela solar power plant in just six months and the upcoming solar power projects of 10 MW in Kutlehar and 5 MW at Bhanjal.
The Chief Minister also emphasized the state’s focus on reducing carbon emissions and dependency on fossil fuels through these projects. Additionally, the government is promoting e-vehicles and phasing out petrol and diesel vehicles in government departments.
CM Sukhu thanked the people of Himachal Pradesh for their unwavering support, which has been crucial in successfully implementing various policies and programs aimed at making the state self-reliant and prosperous in the coming years.
