Himachal Pradesh’s First Digital Library Inaugurated

Bilaspur Welcomes a New Era of Learning

On Tuesday, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu inaugurated the state’s first digital library in Bilaspur. This modern facility can accommodate 40 people and offers around 2,500 books, including offline access to NCERT and CBSE materials for classes 1 to 12, as well as resources for college courses and competitive exams.

Chief Minister Sukhu highlighted the library’s free access to reading materials through touch-screen devices and social media platforms. The library uses RFID technology for efficient management, and each visitor receives an ID card for entry. The library features a spacious reading hall, e-library, computer tablets, and CCTV surveillance for security.

During the event, students expressed their appreciation for the government’s efforts to integrate digital technology into education, noting the positive impact on their learning experiences. The Chief Minister also inaugurated a new building for the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau in Bilaspur, costing Rs 1.67 crore. The event was attended by Technical Education Minister Rajesh Dharmani, HPTDC Chairman RS Bali, and other dignitaries.
