Himachal Pradesh CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu Meets Prime Minister Narendra Modi

On Tuesday, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi. The Chief Minister urged the Prime Minister to support Himachal Pradesh’s goal of becoming a completely green state. He highlighted the state’s initiatives, including switching to electric buses and generating 1000 MW of hybrid solar and wind energy in Spiti.

CM Sukhu also discussed the state’s need for compensation to move away from thermal power and requested approval for loans to fund electric buses. He sought support for a mega solar project and raised several power-related issues, including long-pending arrears from the Bhakra Beas Management Board and the restoration of the Shanan Project rights.

Additionally, the Chief Minister emphasized the importance of boosting tourism in Kangra, requesting the Centre to cover 50% of the land acquisition costs for expanding Kangra Airport and suggesting the establishment of a Tourism SEZ. He also requested financial assistance to recover from the losses suffered during the previous monsoons.

Prime Minister Modi listened to the Chief Minister’s requests and assured him of all possible assistance. The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary Finance Devesh Kumar, Secretary to Chief Minister Rakesh Kanwar, and Resident Commissioner Meera Mohanty.
