Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu has announced that the state government is committed to the welfare and upliftment of weaker sections to create a just and equitable society. Various schemes have been launched to benefit these sections, ensuring they lead a dignified life.
The state government is offering a grant of Rs. 1.50 lakh to SC, ST, and OBC individuals with an annual income of less than Rs. 50,000 for house construction under the Swaran Jayanti Ashray Yojna. Last year, Rs. 17.25 crore was spent, benefiting 1150 houseless persons.
To make weaker sections self-sufficient, the government is providing training in professional courses and financial assistance for necessary equipment. Free computer training is being offered to children from these sections, with postgraduate diploma and diploma training in computer applications available at 97 centers across the state. A stipend of Rs. 1000 per month is given during training and Rs. 1500 during six months of proficiency training in government offices, benefiting 3637 people last year.
The government is also providing up to Rs. 1300 for tools and equipment and up to Rs. 1800 for sewing machines to trained SC/ST and OBC individuals with an annual income below Rs. 50,000.
The state government is funding various sectors for minority people, including education, health, social, economic, skill development, drinking water, sports, sanitation, and solar energy. A common center at Kaza is being constructed with an outlay of Rs. 12.77 crore, and 11 projects worth Rs. 25.45 crore have been approved for minority benefits.
