On a joyful Wednesday, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu celebrated Diwali with children at Balika and Bal Ashram in Mashobra and Tutikandi, Shimla. He extended warm greetings and performed Lakshmi Pujan with the girls, wishing for peace and prosperity in the state. The Chief Minister distributed sweets, fireworks, and gifts, wishing the children a bright future.

Government’s Commitment to Orphans

During his visit, CM Sukhu announced plans for educational trips for the children to places like Goa, with all expenses covered by the government. He emphasized the state’s commitment to orphan welfare, highlighting that Himachal Pradesh is the first state to adopt orphans as ‘Children of the state’. The government will provide Rs. 75,000 for coaching expenses to support their education.

New Initiatives and Cultural Program

CM Sukhu directed the establishment of a digital library at the Balika Ashram in Mashobra. The children showcased a vibrant cultural program. Later, he visited Nari Seva Niketan in Mashobra, extending Diwali greetings and distributing gifts. The event was attended by Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap, Director of Women and Child Development Kiran Bhadana, Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Gandhi, and other dignitaries.
