Helicopters Hover Over Tump, Balochistan Amid Reports of Enforced Disappearances

In the Tump neighborhood of Kech district, Balochistan, Pakistan Army helicopters have been flying since Friday night. This follows reports of four individuals being forcibly disappeared. Local sources claim that after an attack on Pakistani forces earlier in the week, security forces arrested four people and took them to an undisclosed location. The missing individuals are Ibrahim, Farooq, Ilyas, and Faris, all from Dazin, Tump. Notably, Ilyas and Farooq had previously been released after similar abductions.

Meanwhile, a large number of Pakistani forces are reportedly advancing in Tump, with helicopters continuing to operate in the area. Protests have erupted in several Baloch cities, demanding an end to enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings. The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) organized rallies, and Baloch students in Islamabad and Uthal held peaceful protests. Businesses in Kalat, Mastung, and other cities closed in solidarity during shutter-down strikes.

Protesters have called on the UN and human rights organizations to intervene and hold Pakistani leaders accountable. A protest march in Quetta, organized by the BYC, saw families of missing persons holding images of their loved ones and chanting against enforced disappearances. BYC officials accused the Pakistani government of oppressing Baloch intellectuals, students, and youth through enforced disappearances and targeted killings. A three-day protest camp was held at Turbat's Shaheed Fida Chowk by residents, activists, and families of the missing.
