Heavy Rains in Balochistan’s Dera Bugti Cause Deaths and Injuries
Heavy rains in Balochistan’s Dera Bugti district led to the deaths of two people and injuries to 20 others, according to a report by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA). The incidents occurred in the Sui area of Dera Bugti.
One of the injured is in critical condition. Following the heavy rains, an emergency was declared in local hospitals to treat the injured. Many areas in Dera Bugti lost electricity due to the collapse of several electricity poles.
The PDMA report stated that the Pakistan Army, FC, and PDMA have started rescue efforts in the affected regions, relocating people to safer locations. The weather forecast predicts more rain and thunderstorms in various districts of Balochistan, including Lasbella, Khuzdar, Awaran, Jhal Magsi, Kalat, Naseerabad, Jaffarabad, Dera Bugti, Kohlu, Zhob, and Barkhan.
With sewer manholes not designed for proper rainwater drainage, several regions across Pakistan continue to face issues like clogged roads, flooded fields, and excessive traffic jams due to torrential rains.
