HCLTech to Open AI/Cloud Native Lab in Singapore by 2025
HCLTech has announced plans to establish a new AI/Cloud Native Lab in Singapore, supported by the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB). This facility, set to open in 2025, will be HCLTech’s fifth lab globally, joining those in the US, UK, Germany, and India. The Singapore lab aims to enhance AI adoption among regional enterprises with solutions like AI Force and AI Foundry.
The initiative will also support Singapore’s AI innovation by collaborating with Nanyang Polytechnic and Singapore Polytechnic to develop skills among young and mid-career professionals. Roshni Nadar Malhotra, HCLTech’s Chairperson, announced the lab at an event with the Ministry of Digital Development and Information of Singapore and the EDB, attended by key academic figures.
Vijay Guntur, HCLTech’s Chief Technology Officer, emphasized the lab’s role in helping enterprises develop AI-led efficiencies and new business capabilities. He expressed excitement about strengthening Singapore’s position as a regional AI hub.
Singapore’s commitment to AI is highlighted by the Singapore National AI Strategy 2.0, launched in 2023, focusing on a responsible AI ecosystem in sectors like finance and manufacturing. Philbert Gomez, Executive Director of Digital Industry Singapore, noted the partnership with HCLTech aligns with efforts to drive AI adoption and unlock business value in Singapore.
