Harsh Kumar Jain Appointed as India’s Ambassador to Palau

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has announced that Harsh Kumar Jain, who is currently serving as India’s ambassador to the Philippines, will also take on the role of ambassador to Palau. He will continue to reside in Manila while fulfilling his new duties. Harsh Kumar Jain joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1993 and has held various significant positions throughout his career.

Career Highlights

Jain has previously served as India’s ambassador to Ukraine from 2022 to 2024, Slovakia from 2017 to 2018, and Kazakhstan from 2014 to 2017. His experience also includes roles in Indian Missions in Moscow, Kyiv, St Petersburg, London, and Kathmandu.

Roles in India

In India, Jain has been the Head of the BIMSTEC and SAARC Division, Global Estate Management Division, and the e-Governance, Information Technology and Cyber Diplomacy Division. He also served as the desk officer for Afghanistan from 2002 to 2004.

International Contributions

Jain was a member of the UN Group of Governmental Experts on Information and Telecommunications in the context of International Security during 2012-13.
