Harry Brook and Joe Root’s Record-Breaking Partnership in Multan Test

In a thrilling Test match against Pakistan in Multan, England’s Harry Brook and Joe Root made history with a remarkable 454-run partnership. This achievement broke a 67-year-old record for the highest partnership by an English pair. Brook scored 317 runs in 322 balls, while Root contributed 262 runs in 375 balls.

Brook humorously shared that his motivation was to surpass Root’s score. He expressed satisfaction with the team’s strong position and enjoyed the challenging conditions. Brook’s triple century, achieved in 310 balls, is the fastest by an English batter and the second-fastest overall, following Virender Sehwag’s 278-ball triple ton.

Brook became the sixth English batter to score a triple century, joining legends like Leonard Hutton and Graham Gooch. He also became the fifth player to score a triple century against Pakistan. The partnership with Root is England’s highest in Tests, surpassing the 411-run record by Colin Cowdrey and Peter May in 1957. It is also the fourth-highest partnership in Test cricket history.

This match marked only the third instance of two players scoring over 250 runs in the same Test innings, a feat previously achieved by West Indies’ Conrad Hunte and Garry Sobers in 1958, and Sri Lanka’s Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara in 2006.
