Hafiz Naeemur Rehman Urges Government to Address Security and Economic Issues in Pakistan

Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, the leader of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), has called on the Pakistani government to initiate discussions with relevant stakeholders to address critical issues, including the worsening security situation in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Speaking at the JI's Islamabad office, he emphasized the need to revise policies to protect lives in these troubled regions, stating, "Every person's life is precious. The government needs to revisit its policy."

Rehman also appealed to Afghanistan's Taliban-led government to act responsibly and ensure Afghan territory is not used against other nations, including Pakistan. He urged the Pakistani government to engage in talks with Afghanistan to resolve mutual concerns.

The JI chief criticized the government for not delivering on its promises of economic relief, particularly regarding the electricity cost crisis. He dismissed the recent winter electricity relief package announced by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif as inadequate, calling it "a joke" and "deception for the public."

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had announced an electricity relief package with reductions for domestic, industrial, and commercial users during the winter months. However, Rehman questioned its relevance and sustainability, highlighting the ongoing burden of a fuel levy on citizens.

Rehman suggested promoting solar energy as a viable solution, noting its cost-effectiveness and environmental benefits. He reiterated the JI's commitment to advocating for practical and long-term solutions to address Pakistan's economic and security challenges.
