Public Invited to Review and Suggest Changes
The Gujarat government has unveiled the Draft Annual Statement of Rates, known as Jantri, for 2024. This draft is now open for public review. Citizens can view it online at garvi.gujarat.gov.in or visit the office of the Deputy Collector (Stamp Duty) to access it. Suggestions and objections are welcome until December 20, 2024.
The updated Jantri, effective from April 15, 2023, aims to accurately determine market prices for land and immovable properties. This update is in response to feedback from farmers and organizations seeking revised compensation and land rates. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has emphasized a scientific approach to rationalize land prices.
A comprehensive field survey was conducted from April to November 2023, covering 23,846 value zones in urban areas and 17,131 villages in rural areas. This survey collected data on land valuation and development potential, which was then verified and analyzed at local levels. The draft reflects these revised rates for both urban and rural areas across Gujarat.
Public feedback will be reviewed by committees led by district collectors, and their recommendations will be sent to the state government for approval. The final rates will be implemented once approved by the state government.
