Gujarat Police Arrest Two for Attempting to Derail Train in Botad

On September 25, Gujarat Police arrested two individuals, Ramesh and Jayesh, for attempting to derail a passenger train by placing an iron slab on the tracks near Kundli village in Botad district. Botad Superintendent of Police, Kishor Baloliya, stated that the suspects planned to loot passengers after the derailment.

Additionally, three railway employees were arrested for allegedly conspiring to derail a train near Kim railway station on September 24 by removing fishplates and keys from the tracks. The service was quickly restored.

According to Central Railway, train derailments have significantly decreased from an average of 1.2 per day between 2004-2014 to 0.24 per day in 2023-24. In 2024, there have been 43 derailments so far, averaging 0.24 per day.
