Governor S Abdul Nazeer and CM N Chandrababu Naidu Address Flood Crisis in Andhra Pradesh
Amid heavy rainfall in Andhra Pradesh, Governor S Abdul Nazeer has expressed concern over the disruption caused by floods in Vijayawada and surrounding areas. He urged people to stay in safer places and only venture out in emergencies with government help. He advised those stuck in flooded areas to contact authorities for rescue by NDRF teams.
The Governor also requested organizations like the Red Cross, Scouts and Guides, and other NGOs to assist in rescue and relief operations, including distributing food and medicines. He expressed grief over the loss of lives and offered condolences to the affected families.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu inspected the flood-affected areas, stating that 110 boats are currently providing food and medical assistance. He assured the public that command and control centers are being set up and that officials are actively working on the ground.
The heavy rain has caused waterlogging at Budameru Canal and Singhnagar, with rising floodwater levels. Officials are monitoring the situation for timely rescue operations. A railway track near Intakanne was washed away, and restoration work is ongoing, with major breaches being attended to by the South Central Railways.
