Goa Police Crack Down on Illegal Cricket Betting
Five Arrested in Salvador do Mundo
In a significant operation, the Porvorim Police in Goa have arrested five individuals for allegedly running an illegal cricket betting operation. The arrests took place in a bungalow located in Salvador do Mundo, Bardez Goa.
Details of the Arrest
The individuals arrested have been identified as Ruchit Kumar and Nikhil Kumar from Bihar, Pranjal Bhati and Kunal Kumar from Madhya Pradesh, and Vansh Sharma from Karnataka. Inspector Rahul Parab stated that the police received reliable information about the illegal activities, prompting a raid late on Monday night.
Items Seized
During the raid, the police found the accused accepting bets on various cricket leagues and other sports. They seized mobile phones, laptops, and Wi-Fi routers valued at Rs 1.7 lakh. The accused have been charged under sections 3 and 4 of the Goa Daman and Diu Public Gambling Act.
