Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant lauded the Union Budget for its focus on various sectors, calling it a ‘pro budget’ for villages, the poor, and the industrial sector. He emphasized the budget’s major expenditure on defense, rural development, agriculture, education, IT, health, energy, and commerce.

Sawant mentioned that Goa will benefit greatly from the budget through infrastructure development, schemes, and special proposals. He believes this budget will help achieve the 25-year vision of ‘Viksit Bharat’ given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented her seventh consecutive Union Budget for 2024-25, making history as the first finance minister to do so. She surpassed former Prime Minister Morarji Desai’s record of six consecutive budgets.

Sitharaman introduced an increased standard deduction and revised tax rates for salaried individuals under the new tax regime. She proposed significant income-tax reforms aimed at simplifying tax laws and promoting compliance. The budget also includes plans to create employment for about 4.1 crore youth over the next five years, with an allocation of Rs 2 lakh crore. Additionally, Rs 1.48 crore has been proposed for skilling 20 lakh youth over five years, and 1,000 industrial training institutes will be upgraded.
