In Anantnag, Jammu and Kashmir, Congress leader Ghulam Ahmad Mir spoke about the recent elections, acknowledging the challenges faced by Congress and the National Conference (NC) in reducing the BJP’s influence in Jammu. Despite forming an alliance, both parties struggled to make a significant impact. Mir emphasized the importance of restoring statehood to the region, suggesting that if the Prime Minister restores it, it would enhance his goodwill.

NC President Farooq Abdullah expressed gratitude to the people for supporting the NC-Congress alliance. He highlighted the need to address local issues and restore statehood, while noting that the restoration of Article 370 would take more time. Abdullah also mentioned the strategic importance of Jammu and Kashmir, urging the Union government for support.

Omar Abdullah was chosen as the leader of the NC’s legislative party, marking a significant step following the first election since the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019.
