Gautam Adani Tops Hurun India Rich List 2024
The Hurun India Rich List 2024, released on Tuesday, shows significant changes in the wealth of Indian billionaires. Gautam Adani, the founder of Adani Group, has secured the top spot with a total wealth of Rs 11.6 lakh crore, surpassing Mukesh Ambani, the Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries Limited, who has a wealth of Rs 10.1 lakh crore.
Top Billionaires
Following Adani and Ambani, the Shiv Nadar family is in the third position. The fourth spot is held by Cyrus S. Poonawalla and his family from the Serum Institute of India, and Dilip Shanghvi of Sun Pharmaceutical Industries is in fifth place.
Consistent Top 10
Over the past five years, six individuals have consistently remained in the top 10: Gautam Adani, Mukesh Ambani, Shiv Nadar, Cyrus S. Poonawalla, Gopichand Hinduja, and Radhakishan Damani.
India’s Wealth Growth
India now has 334 billionaires with a combined wealth of Rs 159 lakh crore, which is more than the GDP of Saudi Arabia and Switzerland combined. Anas Rahman Junaid, Founder and Chief Researcher of Hurun India, stated, “India continues to score Gold in the ‘Wealth Creation Olympics’.”
Rising Entrepreneurs
The list also features 55 technology startup founders, including the youngest billionaire, 21-year-old Kaivalya Vohra of Zepto. Neha Bansal, co-founder of Lenskart, is the youngest self-made woman entrepreneur at 42 years old. A total of 52 founders of 29 unicorns are also included in the list.
Junaid added, “India is emerging as Asia’s wealth creation engine!” The Hurun India Rich List 2024 includes 1,539 entrants, showcasing a diverse range of wealth creators from various sectors.
