Former Senator Hidayatullah Khan Killed in Bajaur Blast

On July 3, former Pakistani senator Hidayatullah Khan and three others were killed in a blast from an improvised explosive device (IED) in Bajaur, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The attack targeted Khan’s car in the Damadola area while he was on his way to a by-election campaign.

Police Confirmation

Malakand Regional Police Officer Muhammad Ali Khan Gandapur confirmed the deaths and stated that no one had claimed responsibility for the attack yet. Bajaur District Police Officer Sajjad Ahmad mentioned that the bomb disposal unit was investigating the incident.

Official Reactions

KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur condemned the incident and called for a detailed report from the police. KP government spokesperson Barrister Mohammad Ali Saif offered prayers for the deceased and stated that such attacks would not dampen their spirits.

Condolences and Criticism

President Asif Ali Zardari expressed deep sorrow over the deaths and condemned the attack. He extended his condolences to the families of the victims. Awami National Party (ANP) President Aimal Wali Khan also condemned the attack and criticized the security agencies, demanding strict punishment for those involved.
