Former Andhra Pradesh CM Jagan Mohan Reddy Faces Land Controversy
Amaravati (Andhra Pradesh) [India], June 22: Former Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy is in hot water over allegations of illegally allotting two acres of irrigation land in Amaravati for his party office, according to the Telugu Desam Party (TDP).
The TDP claims that Jagan Mohan Reddy had plans to occupy an additional 15 acres by building the party office on these two acres. However, the Irrigation Department has not given clearance for this land transfer. The Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA), Mangalagiri, Tadepalli Municipal Corporation (MTMC), and Revenue officials did not hand over the land to the then ruling party.
The TDP further stated that the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) did not even apply for the necessary permissions before starting construction. Upon learning of these issues, the general secretary of the Guntur district unit of the TDP lodged a complaint with the CRDA and MTMC officials, demanding action against the illegal occupants.
As a result, the MTMC officials have begun demolishing the illegal constructions under their supervision. A letter was also sent to the YSRCP leaders by the Irrigation Department.
Meanwhile, the YSR Congress Party received another notice from the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) regarding the illegal construction of a party office in Vizag. The GVMC objected to the construction on two acres of land in Yendada, Visakhapatnam district, without proper permission. The YSRCP had applied for permission to the Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA) instead of the GVMC.
The Zone-2 Town Planning Officer issued a notice stating that if a proper explanation is not provided within a week, further action will be taken. This has led to speculation that the Visakhapatnam YCP office might also be demolished for being built without permission.
This controversy follows the recent demolition of an under-construction central office building of the YSR Congress Party by the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority.
