Five Bodies Found in Chaghi, Pakistan: Suspected Former Afghan Military Personnel

On August 17, five bodies were discovered tied to an electricity pole in Chaghi, a town in Pakistan’s Balochistan province. The location is near the borders of Afghanistan and Iran. The bodies appeared to have been brutally executed and were transported to the district headquarters hospital in Chaghi for identification.

Officials suspect that the victims were former Afghan military personnel abducted by a militant group known for its activities in the area. This group has been a source of tension between Iran and its neighbors.

In a separate incident, another body was found in the Shaban area of Quetta, Balochistan, and was taken to the Civil Hospital in Quetta for medico-legal formalities. Authorities are investigating both incidents and have yet to determine if they are connected. There are also unconfirmed reports of three more bodies being found.

The discovery of these bodies has sent shockwaves through the region, especially near the Afghan border. Balochistan is home to several violent groups that frequently attack state forces, demanding a greater share of the region’s resources and expressing concerns over the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
