Fire at Nizam Palace in Kolkata: No Casualties Reported
A fire broke out at the staff quarters on the sixth floor of Nizam Palace in Kolkata on Tuesday. Upon receiving information, three fire tenders rushed to the scene and successfully extinguished the fire. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported.
Nizam Palace is a tier A heritage building located on AJC Bose Road in Kolkata. It was constructed in 1933 and was acquired by Mir Osman Ali Khan, the 7th Nizam of Hyderabad, from Johannes Carapie, a businessman of Armenian descent. The palace is situated next to the office of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), where Dr. Sandip Ghosh, former principal of RG Kar Medical College, was taken before the fire broke out.
