An explosion occurred outside the CRPF School in Prashant Vihar, Rohini, New Delhi, on October 20. The area remains cordoned off as investigations continue. Officials from the Institute of IED Management in Pune, the Forensic Science Laboratory, and security personnel are involved in the investigation.

Investigation Details

Delhi Police have seized CCTV footage from nearby markets. The footage shows a suspect in a white T-shirt near the blast site the night before the explosion. The explosive device was found wrapped in a polythene bag, buried in a shallow pit, and covered with garbage.

Impact of the Blast

While no injuries were reported, the explosion damaged nearby vehicles and properties. A hole was found in the school’s boundary wall, and window panes and signboards of nearby shops were damaged.

Police Actions

A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed under relevant sections, including the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act and the Indian Explosives Act. A white powder was found near the site, and the area was secured. Various teams, including the crime team of Rohini District, FSL Rohini, BDT, NDRF, NSG, the Fire Department, and SWAT, were informed and arrived at the scene.

Security Measures

The school serves students from CRPF and other paramilitary families. In response to the incident, Delhi is on high alert, and security has been increased in markets ahead of Diwali.
