The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has launched an orphanage project in the Oromia region of Ethiopia. This initiative was directed by President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and overseen by Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Abiy Ahmed, the Prime Minister of Ethiopia, officially opened the orphanage. The event was attended by Hamdan Musallam Al Mazrouei, Chairman of the Emirates Red Crescent, along with other UAE and Ethiopian officials.
The orphanage will serve over 700 orphans and cost AED20 million. It includes residences, two schools, a kindergarten, a library, a training center, entertainment spaces, and administrative offices. A well with modern pumps will provide water.
Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed expressed gratitude to the UAE and President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for their support in Ethiopia's infrastructure and sustainable development. He highlighted the importance of cooperation between the two nations.
