Election Commission Addresses Concerns on Haryana Election Results
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has responded to Congress leader Jairam Ramesh’s concerns about delays in updating the Haryana Legislative Assembly election results on its website. Ramesh, who is the Congress General Secretary in-charge of Communications, claimed that the vote counting updates were slow.
In its reply, the ECI dismissed these allegations, stating that the counting process is conducted according to Rule 60 of the Conduct of Election Rules. The ECI emphasized that the counting is happening transparently in the presence of candidates, observers, and micro-observers, and there is no evidence of delays.
The ECI also noted that similar concerns were raised by the Indian National Congress during the 2024 General Elections, which were also dismissed. The commission assured that updates are occurring regularly, with approximately 25 rounds being updated every five minutes.
Ramesh had earlier questioned if the BJP was trying to influence the administration by sharing outdated trends. He urged the ECI to ensure the website reflects accurate figures to prevent misleading narratives.
