DUSU President Tushar Dedha Files Complaint Against NSUI Members for Vandalism
New Delhi, July 14: Tushar Dedha, the President of the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU), has filed a complaint at Maurice Nagar Police Station. He accused NSUI members, led by Abhi Dahiya, of vandalizing his office.
Details of the Incident
According to Tushar, Abhi Dahiya, who is also the DUSU Vice President, pressured him to allow the embezzlement of Rs 18 lakh from DUSU funds. When Tushar refused, Abhi allegedly decided to defame and attack him.
On the morning of July 14, Abhi and over 40 supporters, who were reportedly drunk, attacked Tushar’s office. They destroyed property, including a Lord Ram idol and a Swami Vivekanand portrait, and stole a watch. They also attacked the offices of Aprajita, the DUSU Secretary, and Sachin Baisla, the DUSU Joint Secretary.
Police Involvement
Tushar Dedha, a member of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), stated that the Delhi Police assured strict action. He mentioned that government property was damaged and some cash and a watch were missing.
NSUI’s Response
The National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) criticized the ABVP, accusing them of trying to divert attention from issues like fake degrees held by their office bearers. NSUI President Varun Choudhary condemned the ABVP’s actions, stating that they consistently indulge in violence and mislead students.
In a statement titled “Our Response to ABVP’s Diversion Tactics,” Choudhary accused the ABVP of fabricating violence and producing counterfeit degrees to cover up their malpractices.
