Indian para-athletes Dharambir and Pranav Soorma have made India proud by winning gold and silver medals in the men’s club throw F51 final at the Paris Paralympics. Dharambir set a new Asian record with a throw of 34.92m, while Pranav secured silver with 34.59m.

This achievement brings India’s total medal count to 24, including five golds, nine silvers, and ten bronzes. The Indian team is now just one medal away from their 25-medal target set by the Paralympic Committee of India (PCI) President Devendra Jhajharia.

Dharambir’s record-breaking throw matched India’s tally of five gold medals from the Tokyo Paralympics three years ago. Pranav, who had won gold at last year’s Para Asian Games, settled for silver this time. Amit Kumar Saroha, the third Indian in the event, finished with a best attempt of 23.96m.

Other notable performances include Harvinder Singh’s historic gold in para archery, Avani Lekhra’s gold in the women’s 10m air rifle, and Sumit Antil’s record-breaking gold in the javelin throw F64 class final. India also enjoyed double podium finishes in men’s javelin throw F46 and men’s high jump T6 events.
