Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis and BJP Leaders Meet in Mumbai for Core Committee Meeting
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, along with Union Ministers Bhupender Yadav and Ashwini Vaishnaw, attended a BJP core committee meeting in Mumbai. The meeting aimed to analyze the recent Lok Sabha elections and strategize for the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections.
Key Announcements by Ajit Pawar
Deputy CM Ajit Pawar, who also serves as the NCP chief and holds the finance portfolio, presented the state budget. He announced the ‘Mukhyanantri Majhi Ladki Bahin’ scheme, which will provide Rs 1500 per month to women aged 21 to 60, starting from July 2024. This scheme is inspired by Madhya Pradesh’s Ladli Behna Yojana.
Pawar also declared a Rs 5000 per hectare bonus for cotton and soybean farmers and a Rs 5 per litre bonus for milk-producing farmers. Additionally, the compensation for deaths due to animal attacks has been increased to Rs 25 lakhs.
Previous Core Committee Meeting
Earlier, a core committee meeting was held at Fadnavis’s residence on June 21. Maharashtra BJP president Chandrashekhar Bawankule stated that the meeting focused on analyzing the Lok Sabha elections and identifying mistakes to improve future performance. The BJP’s seat count in Maharashtra dropped to nine from 23 in the 2019 elections, while the Congress improved to 13 seats.
