JNU Moves Classes Online
Due to worsening air quality in Delhi, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) has shifted to online classes until November 22. The decision comes as pollution levels reach hazardous levels in Delhi and the NCR.
Gurugram Schools Suspended
In Haryana, the Deputy Commissioner of Gurugram announced the suspension of all physical classes up to the 12th standard from November 19 to November 23, 2024, following directives from the Director of Secondary Education Haryana and the severe Air Quality Index (AQI) situation.
Supreme Court's Directive
The Supreme Court has ordered Delhi and NCR states to strictly implement GRAP Stage IV anti-pollution measures. A bench of Justices Abhay S. Oka and Augustine George Masih instructed the formation of teams to monitor compliance with these measures. The court also mandated the continuation of GRAP Stage IV measures even if AQI falls below 450 and required compliance affidavits from NCR states and the central government.
GRAP Measures
GRAP (Graded Response Action Plan) is a set of anti-pollution measures activated based on air quality severity. Restrictions under GRAP Stages III and IV are enforced when air quality becomes severe.
