In New Delhi, the Chief Justice of India, CY Chandrachud, has halted his morning walks due to the increasing pollution levels in the city. Bharatiya Janata Party spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla described Delhi as a ‘gas chamber’ with toxic air everywhere. In a video, Poonawalla criticized the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for engaging in a blame game instead of addressing the pollution issues. He accused AAP of blaming other states and external factors while neglecting internal causes. On Friday, Delhi was covered in smog, with an air quality index (AQI) of 283 recorded at 8 a.m. Various areas like Anand Vihar, Punjabi Bagh, India Gate, and Jhilmil Industrial area reported AQI levels ranging from 218 to 288. Chief Justice Chandrachud expressed his concerns about the pollution during an informal chat with journalists, mentioning his doctor’s advice to avoid morning walks due to the risk of respiratory problems.
