Delhi Police Investigates Tragic Flood at Rajendra Nagar Coaching Institute

The Delhi Police has launched an investigation into a tragic incident where three people died after the basement of a coaching institute in Rajendra Nagar, New Delhi, was flooded.

Investigation Details

Deputy Commissioner of Police Central, M Harshavardhan, confirmed that a criminal case has been registered and forensic teams are collecting evidence. He stated, “We are committed to registering a strong case and finding out the truth. Two people have been detained so far.”

Rescue Operations

The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has recovered three bodies, which have been sent for further legal action. The water is being pumped out continuously, and one final round of search operations is pending. Some trapped students have been rescued, with three sent to the hospital. In total, 13 to 14 others were rescued and are fine.

Protests and Political Reactions

A group of students staged a protest against the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) at the site. DCP Harshavardhan urged students not to protest as it would hamper rescue services. Delhi BJP Chief Virendra Sachdeva criticized the AAP government, calling for an inquiry into alleged corruption in the MCD and questioning why the drainage was not cleaned.
