Delhi Court Orders FIR Against Former Employees of Fashion Designer Pallavi Mohan

A Delhi court has instructed the police to file a First Information Report (FIR) against former employees of renowned fashion designer Pallavi Mohan. Known for her brand “Not So Serious,” Mohan accused her ex-employees, Manu Uniyal and Surender Kumar, of secretly taking orders from her clients and manufacturing garments using her brand’s name and materials. The payments were allegedly diverted to their accounts and those of their family members and associated companies, including Kalpana Uniyal and Manusmriti Ayurveda Pvt. Ltd.

The complaint also includes allegations of forgery and record fabrication. It claims that proceeds from these activities were transferred to accounts of relatives like Gunja Devi, Kumudh Kumari, Nand Kishore, Rachit Uniyal, and Shashank Raturi. The offenses are categorized under Sections 408, 420, and 120B of the Indian Penal Code.

Pallavi Mohan initially reported the issue to the police, but no FIR was registered. She then filed a petition through her advocates, Sumit Gehlot and Nikhil Bhalla, requesting the court to direct the police to register an FIR. On October 4, 2024, Judge Akshay Sharma of Saket Court noted that the accused had started a parallel business during their employment, using the same label as Mohan’s brand.

The court found evidence supporting Mohan’s claims and determined that a cognizable offense had been committed. The court directed the concerned SHO to register an FIR and submit a compliance report at the next hearing. Mohan is represented by advocates Sumit Gehlot and Nikhil Bhalla.
