Delhi BJP President Protests Against Yamuna Pollution

On October 24, Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva took a dip in the Yamuna River to protest against the pollution in the river and the city, blaming the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) led Delhi government. He challenged AAP leaders, Chief Minister Atishi and national convener Arvind Kejriwal, to inspect the river’s condition. Sachdeva criticized the AAP for not accounting for Rs 8,500 crores allocated for cleaning the Yamuna.

In response, AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj stated that industrial waste in the Yamuna comes from Panipat and Sonipat, not Delhi, and urged Sachdeva to address the Haryana government. Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena also highlighted the issue by sharing images of the polluted river and urged authorities to take action.

Meanwhile, the Delhi Environment Minister announced the enforcement of GRAP-II rules across North India due to poor air quality.
