Cyclone Dana Hits Odisha: Train Services and Relief Efforts Update
On October 25, Indian Railways confirmed that train services will continue as scheduled, except for previously cancelled trains in cyclone Dana-affected areas. Trains from Visakhapatnam to Bhubaneswar and Howrah will operate normally, while those from Kharagpur to Visakhapatnam will arrive at Bhadrak Station, with the first being the Howrah-Bangalore Duronto Express. Services from Bhubaneswar and Puri will start after noon, except for cancelled trains.
Rescue and relief operations have begun in Odisha following the cyclone’s landfall. NDRF DIG Mohsen Shahedi reported that the cyclone made landfall on October 24-25 and is expected to weaken into a deep depression. No major damage has been reported, and normal services, including air travel, have resumed.
The IMD reported that Cyclone Dana is moving north-northwest at 7 km/h and is expected to weaken over the next six hours. It is currently located near Bhadrak and Dhamra in Odisha.
Rahul Gandhi, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, urged for efforts to protect lives and property, calling on Congress members to aid in relief efforts and for residents to follow government guidelines.
