In Bengaluru, Karnataka, CP Yogeshwara, the Congress candidate for the Channapatna by-poll, filed his nomination on Thursday afternoon. The event was attended by Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar. CM Siddaramaiah expressed strong confidence in Yogeshwara’s victory, stating, “All our leaders and our party are 200 percent confident that CP Yogeshwara will win.” Deputy CM Shivakumar also shared his optimism, saying, “Yogeshwara will make the difference, and we will win the seat comfortably.”

CP Yogeshwara, a five-time former MLA from Channapatna, is contesting the seat vacated by Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy after his Lok Sabha win. Yogeshwara expressed his determination to win with the support of the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister.

The Congress party has announced its candidates for the upcoming Assembly by-elections, including Jayanta Borah for Behali in Assam, E Annapurna for Sandur (ST) in Karnataka, and CP Yogeshwara for Channapatna. The by-polls will take place across 48 constituencies in 15 states, including Karnataka, Assam, and others.

The Election Commission of India has scheduled the by-polls in two phases. The first phase, covering 47 Assembly constituencies and the Wayanad parliamentary seat in Kerala, will occur on November 13. The second phase will be on November 20 for the Kedarnath Assembly constituency in Uttarakhand and the Nanded parliamentary seat in Maharashtra. The vote counting is set for November 23.

Channapatna’s by-poll is scheduled for November 13, with results to be announced on November 23.
