New Delhi [India], August 19: Congress leaders, including President Mallikarjun Kharge, Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, and General Secretary KC Venugopal, held a crucial meeting at the AICC headquarters to strategize for the upcoming Assembly elections in Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, and Maharashtra.

KC Venugopal stated that the main goal is to defeat the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in these states. He mentioned that state committees are planning alliances to achieve this objective.

Venugopal expressed confidence in the party’s prospects, citing palpable anger against the BJP and its allies. He believes the Congress will fulfill the people’s wishes for a pro-poor, pro-people government.

The Assembly elections in Haryana will be held in a single phase on October 1. In Jammu and Kashmir, the elections will be held in three phases from September 18 to October 1, with the counting of votes on October 4. These are the first elections in Kashmir after the abrogation of Article 370.

The Maharashtra elections have been postponed due to security concerns related to Jammu and Kashmir. Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar announced that the Maharashtra elections will be scheduled later.
