In the chilly region of Kishtwar, Jammu and Kashmir, two Village Defence Guards (VDGs) were killed, sparking criticism from Congress leaders towards the Bharatiya Janata Party-led Central government. Congress leader Pramod Tiwari questioned the effectiveness of the government’s control over law and order, especially after Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s recent statements claiming stability in the region. Tiwari highlighted the increasing terror acts and questioned the truthfulness of Shah’s statements.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha paid tribute to the deceased, Nazir Ahmad and Kuldeep Kumar, and vowed to dismantle terror groups responsible for the attack. Meanwhile, Congress leader Rashid Alvi urged the government to investigate the root causes of these attacks and capture terrorists alive to uncover the truth. He criticized the government’s claims of normalcy post-abrogation of Article 370, calling the current times “abnormal.”

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah expressed his deep sadness and concern over the attack, urging security forces to prevent such incidents in the future. He condemned the attack and extended condolences to the victims’ families, emphasizing the need for a robust counter-terror strategy.
