New Delhi, August 22: The Congress and the National Conference (NC) have announced a pre-poll alliance ahead of the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections. The announcement was made after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and party chief Mallikarjun Kharge met with NC chief Farooq Abdullah.

Meeting and Announcement

After the meeting, Farooq Abdullah stated that the Congress-NC alliance would contest all 90 seats in the upcoming elections. The formal announcement was made by Farooq Abdullah in Srinagar, with the NC posting ‘United we stand’ on social media platform X.

Alliance Details

Farooq Abdullah mentioned that the alliance includes CPM’s M.Y. Tarigami and that seat-sharing details would be announced soon. He emphasized the alliance’s goal to restore statehood and fight divisive forces.

Upcoming Elections

The assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir will be held in three phases on September 18, 25, and October 1, with results announced on October 4. This will be the first assembly poll since the abrogation of Article 370.
