CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Leads Tree Planting and Prepares for Grand Jhumur Dance in Assam

Assam’s Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma participated in a tree plantation program called ‘Ek Ped Maa ke Naam’ as part of the Amrit Brikshya Andolan at the Ministers Colony park in Dispur Capital Complex, Guwahati. The program aims to plant three crore trees from August 1 to August 20.

Speaking about the initiative, Sarma said, “The Assam government will be planting three crore plants from August 1 to August 20. I believe we will be playing a very important role in protecting the environment through this program.”

On Wednesday, Sarma also announced a grand Jhumur dance performance by 8,000 tea tribe artists from 800 tea gardens, scheduled for November 20 at Sarusajai Stadium in Guwahati. He mentioned that last year, 12,000 artists performed the Bihu dance at the same venue.

Additionally, Sarma talked about the launch of the Orundoi 3.0 scheme, confirming that 20 lakh new beneficiaries would be added, increasing the total number to 47 lakh.
