In Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, the Chinar Corps commemorated the 78th Infantry Day with a wreath-laying ceremony at the Chinar War Memorial. The General Officer Commanding (GOC) and all ranks of the Chinar Corps participated in the event, honoring the courage and sacrifice of soldiers who have protected the nation.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also paid tribute to the infantry’s spirit and courage, acknowledging their role in ensuring national security. He highlighted the infantry’s embodiment of strength, valor, and duty.

Infantry Day marks the historic landing of the 1st Battalion of the SIKH Regiment at Srinagar airfield on October 27, 1947, which thwarted the plans of Pakistani raiders. This day celebrates the infantry’s pivotal role in defending Jammu and Kashmir.
