Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar Reviews Poll Preparations in Chandigarh for Haryana Elections

Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar, along with Election Commissioners Gyanesh Kumar and Dr. SS Sandhu, visited Chandigarh to review preparations for the upcoming Haryana assembly elections. The current Haryana legislative assembly’s term ends on November 3, 2024.

Haryana is one of the eight states holding legislative assembly elections this year. The Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) will contest the elections together, while the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will contest all 90 seats independently.

In the 2019 Haryana Assembly polls, the BJP won 40 seats, the Congress won 31 seats, the JJP won 10 seats, and the INLD won 1 seat. The Haryana Assembly Elections 2024 are expected to take place on or before October 2024, as the current Assembly’s tenure is set to end on November 3 this year. However, the election schedule is yet to be announced.
