Chennaiyin FC’s Under-12 Team to Compete in Norwich City Mina Cup UK
Chennaiyin FC’s Under-12 team is set to represent India at the Norwich City Mina Cup UK, a prestigious international youth football tournament. The event will be held on October 12 and 13 at Norwich City FC’s training facility in England, featuring top youth teams from around the world.
Chennaiyin FC is the only Indian club participating, competing against 15 other teams, including renowned clubs like Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, Inter Milan, and Borussia Dortmund. The 15-member team, along with their coaches, traveled to England to seize this opportunity for international exposure and skill development.
Ekansh Gupta, the club’s vice president, expressed excitement about the opportunity, highlighting the importance of the tournament for showcasing young talent. Sam Jeffery, Commercial Director of Norwich City FC, welcomed Chennaiyin FC, emphasizing the strong partnership between the clubs.
The tournament format includes a nine-a-side competition with 16 teams divided into four groups. Chennaiyin FC is in Group 4 with Liverpool, Inter Milan, and Empire Football Club. Teams will play three group matches, with the top two advancing to the Gold Cup and the bottom two to the Silver Cup, ensuring each team plays eight matches.
