Chandrababu Naidu Relaunches Anna Canteens to Feed the Poor in Andhra Pradesh
On August 15, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu relaunched the Anna Canteen in Gudivada, Andhra Pradesh. The main goal of these canteens is to ensure that the poor do not go hungry. Each meal at the canteen costs Rs 5, which is a great help for the poor, daily-wage earners, and laborers.
Chandrababu Naidu, along with his wife, Nara Bhuvaneswari, had a meal with common citizens after declaring the canteen open. He mentioned that an action plan will be created to run these canteens permanently and without any issues. A total of 203 canteens will be launched across the state, with a daily maintenance cost of Rs 53 lakh.
Naidu stated that many people are interested in donating to the Anna Canteens, which are inspired by TDP founder NT Rama Rao and the popular Dokka Seethamma. He expressed his happiness in inaugurating such a scheme, especially on Independence Day.
Recalling that he had launched the Anna Canteen in Gudivada when NT Rama Rao first became Chief Minister, Naidu said he personally came to relaunch the canteen as the TDP-led NDA Government decided that no one should go hungry in the place where NT Rama Rao was born. He also remembered the great services of Dokka Seethamma, who served food to anyone who was hungry.
Naidu announced that 100 Anna Canteens were relaunched on Thursday, and by the end of September, 203 canteens will be reopened across the state, including in tribal areas. Each canteen will serve food to about 350 people, with the number increasing based on demand. The government will spend Rs 200 crore per year on maintaining these canteens.
Naidu emphasized that he will not allow trees to be cut down along his way, unlike the previous government leader. He stated that his policy is simple government and effective governance, and he will resolve all problems faced by the people. An account has been opened for those who wish to donate to the Anna Canteens at the Chandramouli Nagar branch of SBI in Guntur.
Naidu assured that his government is available 24/7 to resolve any issues.
