CBI Investigates Fraud Involving Fake KBC Prize and PM Modi’s Photo
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has launched an investigation into a case of fraud and forgery. A complainant reported being deceived into paying Rs 3 lakh under the false pretense of winning a Rs 5.6 crore prize from the popular TV show ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’.
An unidentified woman, pretending to be a senior CBI officer, allegedly used a photo of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to trick the victim. She coerced the complainant into depositing Rs 2.91 lakh to claim the supposed prize money.
The CBI has filed a First Information Report (FIR) against the woman and is investigating the involvement of fake social media accounts named ‘KBC Mumbai’ and ‘KBC Kolkata’. The Prime Minister’s Office has also filed a complaint with the CBI. Further investigations are ongoing.
