Bushra Bibi Granted Interim Bail in Protest Cases
In Islamabad, the District and Sessions Court has granted interim bail to Bushra Bibi, the wife of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, until January 13. This decision relates to cases from the November 26 protest. Duty Judge Shabeer Bhatti presided over the hearing, where Bushra Bibi appeared with her legal team. She sought bail in four cases at Tarnol police station and three at Ramana police station, with surety bonds of Rs. 50,000 each.
Previously, on December 21, an Anti-Terrorism Court in Rawalpindi granted her interim bail in 32 cases, including 23 linked to the May 9 violence. Her lawyer, Faisal Malik, argued that the cases are politically motivated. Malik stated that Bushra Bibi surrendered to the ATC and was nominated in 23 cases in Rawalpindi alone.
The PTI had initiated a protest on November 24, demanding the release of Imran Khan. The protest reached D-Chowk by November 26, where security forces dispersed the crowd. PTI Information Secretary Sheikh Waqas Akram condemned the corruption case against Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi, calling it political victimization.
